It’s holiday time, hurray!  If you are going to Europe, don’t forget that you can get your Euros from the post office. Small amounts are available on demand and larger ones can be ordered for next day delivery. It’s a simple as that.

If you are staying at home, try our new ice cream. As well as Simply Ice Cream and sorbets we are now stocking Solley’s ice cream. How about Iced Coffee or Rhubarb and Ginger Crumble flavours? For picnics or barbecues, try the salads and dips from Wasted Kitchen of Faversham, to be found in the deli section. They are made from surplus food used in restaurants (hence the name) and are very tasty.

Wherever you are going, make sure you take a Barham Village Store jute bag with you. Take a photo of it in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, halfway up Mont Blanc or on Broadstairs beach  – in other words wherever you are going. Send it to the shop via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and the best one will win a prize. Who knows where our bags will travel?

Can you recommend a local cake supplier? We are still aiming to increase the variety of cakes we have to offer, but have yet to find exactly what we are looking for. If you have any ideas, please contact Debbie Woodward at the shop.

Finally, the shop is delighted to announce that we have managed to source fully compostable cups and lids for the tea and coffee machine. Customers can take the cups home to put on their own compost heaps, or leave them and they will be disposed of greenly. If you would like to take some used cups for home composting, ask at the till. We are trying to be as eco friendly as possible and this as a big step in the right direction.
