A good selection of photos came in of the Barham Village Store jute bags on holiday. The competition was won by the Bruce family, who photographed their bag in front of Mount Fuji in Japan. (Perhaps we could start a subsidiary shop there?) All of the entries can be seen on the shop’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.

We would like to keep this going so please do send or post your pictures of our bag with the hashtag #barhamstoreontour

In the monthly loyalty card draw the September winners are Mark Connelly, Traci Fountain and Mary Stevens.

The Wild Bread from Faversham is getting more and morepopular and in addition to the Wild White, Wholemeal , Rye and Seeded, we are now stocking Spelt loaves and Ciabatta loaves on Thursdays. It costs more than ‘normal’ bread but is well worth the extra..

With Autumn approaching, we will again be stocking a selection of fresh Yorkshire Provender soups from Curd and Cure, our chilled supplier. Towards the end of the month look out for the witch returning to the cart for Halloween , with halloween cakes and biscuits from Wilmshurst and the Gluten Free Tarts, plus and a selection of spooky sweets from Booker.

We have had a response from several new fresh cake suppliers and will be conducting a taste test to see if we can find a suitable supplier who can supply us at the right price. It seems that cakes need to cost around £9 in order to be worth making from a supplier point of view – but this may be too expensive for our customers. If that includes you, remember we have all the ingredients needed for you to make you own cakes.

Did you know that you can do your personal AND business banking at Barham Post Office? You can pay cheques in, pay cash in, check your balance and make cash withdrawals for most banks. Ask at the Post Office counter for more details. As our branch is paid a small commission by Post Office for each transaction any business you can do with us locally really does make a difference. Thank you.
