Mark at Manor Wines, mainly buys direct from small producers, offering excellent quality and value.
The special relationship between Simpsons’ and Barham Village Store arises from the fact that Charles and Ruth Simpson have made Barham one of the premier wine destinations in the south east, having already planted some 110,000 vines on two beautiful sites in the village. We sell a range of their locally produced sparkling and still wines regularly updating the range with their latest vintages. We also stock their excellent Simpsons’ of Servian range.
… and a perfect accompaniment for your local tipple, why not enjoy a bag of Kent Crisps. Based in Bridge, the company use the best of our county’s food producers to create their flavours such as Cheesemakers of Canterbury’s Ashmore Cheese, Shepherd Neame’s Spitfire Ale and Biddenden’s Cider.

For the Sweet Tooth
Honey from local suppliers in Barham and Simply Ice Creams and sorbets from Bonnington, near Ashford, are very special. Turn up the central heating and pretend it’s summer.
Another way to cool down is to drink some Duskin’s single variety apple juice or Heart’s Delight apple and pear juice both from Kingston. And, of course, we sell many other brands including Cawstons, Folkingtons, San Pellegrino, Big Tom and yes – we do sell Coke, gallons of it!
We still stock the wondrous mouth watering fudge from Penrith, but Cumbria is hardly local so we have sourced a softer but equally delicious one from South Barn near Minster.
Plus the best sticky toffee pudding in the world from Cartmel, and ovely chocolate mints from Michael Colman at Summerdown Farm.
Our Dairy Selection
A few miles along the Elham Valley from Barham you will find Ottinge Court Farm, who supply us with the most delicious cream and yoghurts. Made from unpasteurised milk, they retain all the good enzymes and all of the taste of the whole milk. Even more local are our eggs, which come in daily from Mr Dolby, courtesy of his flock of hens in Church Road, Barham. We have daily deliveries of milk and butter from a Kentish wholesaler, and a large selection of cheeses including Kentish Blue and Cheesemakers of Canterbury from Curd & Cure, a family run food wholesaler operating out of the heart of Kent.

Straight from the Smokehouse
Established in 1975, Belhaven Smokehouse is one of only a handful of independent fish farm processors in Scotland. Their Dunbar smoked salmon is made by smoking a fillet over oak chips from whisky barrels then preserving it using a traditional rum cure. Hot smoked salmon, a Belhaven speciality is treated in similar fashion except the fish is smoked in a hotter kiln or the heat is turned up at the end of the process. Their salmon has proven to be extremely popular with our customers since we introduced it last month.
We have a wide selection of locally produced goods – many made right on our doorstep! If you’re a local producer, get in touch and join the list below…
