We had promised to share the outcome of our Great Big Coffee Morning bake sale in aid of Macmillan held at the end of September. We raised a fantastic £395.65 which has been matched by the Post Office to a magnificent total of £791.30! Thanks to All the volunteer bakers and helpers and all of you who donated for cake, we hope you enjoyed your choice.
We’ve now completed the structural changes planned for this year with the final widening of the path alongside the shop and village hall to enable improved access for pallet deliveries and when re-stocking the shop.
‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas’! Yes it’s that time of year again and we’d like to help you to help us by being well prepared in advance. Not surprisingly, it’s always a busier time of year at the Post Office Counter and once again, our advice is to prepare and post early! Christmas edition stamps will be on sale from 2nd November. A 1st class stamp is £1.25, 2nd class is 75p, 1st large letter £1.95 and 2nd large letter £1.55. Last posting dates in the UK are 20th December for 1st class and 18th December for 2nd class. If posting cards abroad, a stamp will cost you £2.20. Last posting dates range from 6th December (for Australia) to 11th December for USA. There are Christmas posting date leaflets with all the details available in store or you can find them and more information online at

Please be ready for your transaction at the Post Office counter with the correct forms completed, identification where needed, payment method at the ready etc. Forms and banking envelopes are available at the Post Office counter to pick up in advance. If you have not completed everything needed when you reach the counter, we will guide you to what is needed and politely request to go to the back of the queue to complete. It’s a busy time of year and this will help save time overall and reduce waiting time for those behind you.
