In general terms it feels like the shop is getting back to a level of pre-Covid normality. We say a very warm “welcome back” to a number of volunteers returning to their regular duties following their vaccinations. Orders from the majority of suppliers are becoming more regular and we are seeing less wastage. To reduce wastage further, those products which are near to their ‘best before’ date are offered at a discount, so do look out for those items with the ‘Reduced’ sticker.
We are delighted that the Spring cut flowers from Ashford based Southeast Flowers and potted plants from local supplier Alison are proving popular with customers. They make a wonderfully colourful display on the cart outside the shop too and our thanks to Pat Steer who helps to keep them well watered and looking their best.
The Post Office remains busy with the number of mailed items processed over the last 12 months exceeding the previous year by 3,500. Some 2,700 customers are using the services each month, a great tribute to our hard working PO team.
Looking ahead, St Georges Day on 23rd April celebrates England’s Patron Saint and an excuse for a full English Breakfast with Chandler and Dunn’s bacon and sausages, Dolby’s free range eggs and a side of tomatoes and mushrooms – yum!
New season vine tomatoes are now in store and we have a new local supplier of asparagus from Eastry starting on or around 21st April, deemed National Asparagus Day. Make sure you get your fill of this seasonal veg, traditionally only available until 21st June.
Springtime brings with it the air of all things new and fresh and time for that Spring Clean! We have a range of cleaning solutions in store including branded products like Flash and Dettol and bleach from as little as 60p.
