Spring has sprung with the arrival of March and much to celebrate with the promise of warmer weather and a variety of events taking place. Here’s a reminder of some great recipes to make for each occasion with local produce and ingredients from your community shop!

On the 1st of the month, St Davids Day, the patron saint of Wales. Why not try making Welsh Rarebit with Welsh cheeses from the Snowdonia Cheese Company on Wilmshurst crumpets, Glamorgan sausages with their cheese and leek filling or Bara Brith, a fruit cake made with tea and dried fruit all ingredients available in store – delicious!

British Pie Week starts 1st March.  We have a great range of pies from Kentish Mayde based in Ashford and Tailormaid Pies from East Sussex.

Mothering Sunday on the 14th, a special day to celebrate and thank Mums. If you’re looking for a gift, our local supplier Alison returns for 2021, providing a range of potted spring flowers.

We have luxury soaps from Romney Marsh Wools and a broad range of chocolates available too. 

Write a message to your Mum (or special person who has cared for you) on one of the hearts in store.  We will display these in the window for all to see!

 

 

 

If there’s something of the Irish in you, don’t forget St Patricks Day on the 17th when we celebrate Irish cooking. Irish Stew is a must with lamb supplied by Chandler and Dunn and potatoes from Provenance Potatoes

Plenty of fresh local veg to accompany too! For pud, how about making Guinness Chocolate puddings, we have all the ingredients and the recipe available on-line at bbcgoodfood.com
We often receive positive comments from visitors on the great range of products we have available, surprised that we are are able to satisfy what they are looking for! We are proud to be able to stock a great range including the value based basket of everyday items, locally sourced products and artisan products to suit a variety of needs.
The Post Office continues to offer an increasing range of services. Did you know that we provide posting for large/heavy parcels both in UK and abroad, a Drop and Go service for frequent posters/companies and online shopping/catalogue returns? Come and meet our friendly PO team who are very happy to help.
If you would like to become a volunteer at the shop, please get in touch. It’s a rewarding experience and a great team to be part of.
