It’s evident that we have some budding artists and designers in the locality. The Easter egg colouring competition was a success with a great many entries from children of all ages. Congratulations to Bella, Nora and Zak, our three winners and well done to everyone who entered, the eggs made a colourful creative display in the shop window.
Unfortunately we were unsuccessful in reaching the final of the ‘Taste of Kent’ Awards. Thank you to All our Customers who voted for us and for your continued custom at the shop. We are involved in other awards and will keep you updated.

We’re all sure to be glad of the increased level of ‘freedom’ with the lockdown rules gradually being eased. Outdoor social gathering opportunities have increased with indoor soon to follow (fingers crossed!) and we have plenty in store to help your hospitality. A variety of tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits are available along with scones, jam and cream for an extra special afternoon tea. Or perhaps wine and beer is more to your taste, we have a good selection there too and some already chilled for that last minute gathering! Dips and crisps make a great accompaniment, gluten free and vegan snacks are also available.

Starting 23rd May we celebrate English Wine week together with Simpsons Wine Estate. We have a range of Simpsons wine already in store and a greater variety will be available. The 25th May notes the start of National Barbecue Week. Time to dust off the grill, get the tongs out and get ready to flip those burgers! Don’t forget to pick up some local asparagus which will be in plentiful supply during May as well.

Sincere thanks to all the Volunteers who have enabled the shop to keep open and safe over the last year, we couldn’t have done it without you. As things begin to get back to the new norm for us all, we continue to seek volunteers to help get the shop back to full opening hours in a safe way. If you have an hour or two to spare on a regular basis, please do let us know. It’s a fun and rewarding experience and a great way to make new friends and acquaintances.

For the two May Bank Holiday Mondays (3rd and 31st) shop opening hours are 09:00 to 10:30, the Post Office will be closed.
